The Wildflowers Beneath the Rocks... (navigating the journey of life)
Jagged Rocks and Fertile Soil…
Very little grows on jagged rock.
Be ground.
Be crumbled, so wildflowers will come up where you are.
You have been stony for too many years.
Try something different. Surrender.
Rumi
I was moved by this extract from a Rumi poem that a client sent over to me this week. She'd read it and felt it reflected the work we'd been doing together in the past weeks.
I see quotes like these as a reflection of what is in the mind of the person sharing, or the person reading. They are something to spark an insight, or to shine a light on something we're looking at.
And this one felt like a true reflection of what my client and I had been exploring.
She'd become (uncomfortably) aware of the 'rocks' she'd been carrying around her whole life. Rocks that we all carry, that look large, and heavy.
She'd begun, though, to question whether they were as real as she thought they were, and ask herself what would happen if she let them go. Let them dissolve and crumble away into something more fertile.
Sometimes we hold on to those rocks, we make them 'true'; we turn the scary monsters of our dreams into something we need to fight in real life.
Let Them Go…
But what if they are rocks that only we see? That only we carry?
What if it's possible for them to dissolve away? Would we then be able to cultivate something different, something beautiful?
Those wildflowers are already there, waiting for the rocks to crumble into soil.
There is nothing to do but watch them bloom.
With love,
Cathy
